Portavolt New Zealand Limited – Warranty
1. WARRANTY PERIODS
Portavolt NZ warrants that this product is free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for 24 months (2 years), commencing from the original purchase date.
2. NEW ZEALAND CONSUMER LAW (CGA DISCLOSURE)
For Goods Supplied to Private Consumers: Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
3. COMMERCIAL AMENDMENT (B2B TRANSACTIONS)
For Goods Supplied for Business Purposes: Where the Purchaser acquires the Product, or holds themselves out as acquiring the Product, for the purposes of a business in terms of Section 43 of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the provisions of the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 do not apply to the transaction. This voluntary manufacturer warranty is the sole remedy available to commercial purchasers.
4. WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS & VOIDS
This limited warranty does not cover any defect, malfunction, or failure caused by or resulting from:
a) Operation outside specified engineering limits (including continuous loads over 3,600W or surge loads breaking the peak 20,000W safety threshold).
b) Accidental damage, impact, drops, or exposure to excess moisture, rain, or liquid ingress via immersion.
c) Damage caused by operating in excessively cold or hot temperatures.
d) Improper charging inputs, including unregulated third-party solar configurations or non-compliant AC voltage lines.
e) Normal capacity degradation of the lithium battery cells resulting from regular cycle use.
f) Tampering, unauthorized modifications, or attempted repairs by non-certified technicians.
5. HOW TO LODGE A WARRANTY CLAIM
To process a claim, you must follow this procedure:
a) Step 1: Contact support via info@portavolt.co.nz to request a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA).
b) Step 2: Provide your original tax invoice or proof of purchase.
c) Step 3: Securely package and ship the unit to the designated Portavolt NZ service facility. Initial transit and packaging costs are the responsibility of the sender.
Freight Cost Resolution:
If the service workshop verifies a manufacturing defect covered under this warranty, Portavolt NZ will fully reimburse the inward local freight costs and return the repaired/replaced unit at our expense. If the fault is deemed user-error or excluded under Section 4, standard inspection fees and return freight charges will apply.
